San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin will run for governor in 2020

The colorful governor of the largest city in Puerto Rico that has been at odds with the Trump administration says she is running for governor of the island in 2020.

She broke out the news in a speech at the Caguas Botanical garden last Friday, while wearing a t-shirt that said “Sin Miedo” or “without fear” in Spanish.

According to Yulin, she will be able to best serve the island as governor. She is a well known socialist in the island that once supported it’s independence. She also contributes frequently with the newspaper “Claridad”, a socialist paper in the island.

Yulin will be facing the current governor Ricardo Rossello, who belongs to the party that wants to turn Puerto Rico into the state number 51 of the union.
