A Japanese sicko dubbed the “Twitter Killer” has pleaded guilty in court to killing and hacking up nine people after he was discovered to be living with their body parts.
Takahiro Shiraishi told a Tokyo court Wednesday that allegations he lured most of the victims to his home through social media then dismembered them were “correct,” the Japan Times reported.
Shiraishi, 29, said he used Twitter and other social media platforms to contact women who had expressed suicidal thoughts.
He then lured eight women between August to October in 2017 to his apartment in Zama city, saying he would help them die, the outlet reported.
Once at his apartment, he then sexually assaulted, strangled and cut up their bodies.
The only male victim was the boyfriend of one of the women who confronted Shiraishi at his apartment about her whereabouts, the Guardian reported.
The serial killings were uncovered in October 2017 by authorities investigating the disappearance of a young woman, who turned out to be one of the victims.
Officers visited his apartment and discovered the victims’ body parts in cooling boxes and other storage containers, which were covered with cat litter.
Shiraishi’s admission Wednesday comes during a series of hearings, which are expected to run over the course of 77 days, the Japan Times reported.
If convicted of murder, Shiraishi faces the death penalty for the killing spree, the outlet reported.
