President Trump wants to resume working from the Oval Office, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Wednesday as he outlined a series of new coronavirus safety protocols now in place at the West Wing.

“He wanted to go to the Oval yesterday,” Meadows told reporters. “If he decides to go to the Oval, we’ve got safety protocols there, not only from a PPE standpoint but from a ventilation standpoint.”

He said anyone who interacts with the Trump — who announced his COVID-19 diagnosis last week — will wear gowns, gloves, masks and goggles. Staffers are also getting tested on a daily basis.

“The president continues to work. He’s in very good health,” Meadows said. “We’re pleased with his progress.”

Trump has continued to work even while hospitalized at Walter Reed National Medical Military Medical Center. He was released Monday night after receiving a cocktail of treatments for three days.

Meadows told reporters that the president’s schedule right now is “fluid.”
